The rock is located approximately 1 meter east of the steps towards the gymnasium.

Layout

The inscription runs in an orthograde direction on a rhomboid-shaped rock surface measuring 50 cm in height and approximately 1 meter in length.

Execution: chiselled.

Palaeography

Letters of the archaic alphabet of Thera: Lambda: rounded at the top. Omicron: with a dot inside, smaller than the other letters. San (?): used for the sibilant sound.

Commentary

The name is recorded in the LGPN (s.v.), which states a dating to the 7th–6th century BCE, and it is the only attestation in Greece.
